Biography
Joe Grand is the President of Grand Idea Studio and an electrical engineer, inventor, and hardware hacker. He holds three granted patents and has designed over a dozen commercially released products. He has also spent many years finding security flaws in hardware devices and educating engineers on how to increase the security of their designs.
Involved in computers and electronics since the age of seven, Joe was a member of the legendary Boston-based hacker collective L0pht Heavy Industries and has testified before the United States Senate Governmental Affairs Committee regarding government and homeland computer security under his nom-de-hack, Kingpin.
Joe is also the author of two books, on the technical advisory board of MAKE Magazine, and was a co-host of Prototype This, an engineering entertainment show on Discovery Channel. He holds a B.S.E.E. from Boston University.
